Our Story
We’ve always been a family-owned company. That’s something that we feel sets us apart from so many other manufacturers out there… something that you’ll see in the quality of our products and in the care we provide from start to finish.
Somewhere during the childhood, years spent helping “dad” logging, we discovered how much fun it it is and how beautiful the result of creating with this majestic piece of nature. Jason spent his spare time during high school making T&G and siding with his brother on a molder he bought from a family friend, building log furniture and even building log homes from log kits purchased from manufacturers up north. While building these other kits Jason was often frustrated that logs were not dry enough to ensure that shrinking wouldn’t be problem, ends were tapered too far to meet building codes… and that the manufacturers were so far away.
Intent on providing customers with logs grown in and acclimated to the local climate, having a full service manufacturing plant and providing jobs for local residents right here in Colorado, in 1980, Jason and his wife Terri started TJ’s Wood Products. Operations started small, with log railings, trusses, stairs etc., and eventually expanded include the incredible custom log homes you see today. Check out our MODELS page to see for yourself!
Our Service
At TJ’s Wood Products, our service begins and ends with our experienced professionals. From the design phase through final construction, we’re there for our customers every step of the way.
We prebuild on our site, disassemble and then reassemble on your subfloor. No job is too big or too small: we’ve constructed custom log homes ranging from 600 square feet to up over 10,000 square feet! We have a large variety of log home kits & plans that can be easily modified to your preferences, or we can work with you to draw a completely custom floor plan that meets your specific requirements.
We take pride in offering our residential and commercial customers the quality materials they need to make their log home or business withstand the test of time.
We oversee our log & timber manufacturing process from beginning to end. We have contracted with the USFS to responsibly log sections of forest in CO. So all of our logs are native to Colorado and acclimated to our dry and dramatically variable climate. We dry our logs to below the industry standard so shrinking or movement is not an issue. We do all of this in order to produce handcrafted structural and cosmetic log products that preserve the rustic beauty of the old world while meeting modern day construction demands.
Each log is hand-selected, hand-peeled and hand-scribed, and custom cut to meet our customers specific requirements, from 3 inches in diameter up to 36 inches in diameter, from 1 foot in length up to 50 feet. All house logs are inspected and grade stamped by onsite our TPI (Timber Products Inspection, Inc.) certified inspector, and since they are right here on site, we can also grade individual logs for our customers as needed.
When you look back over the past 30 plus years, it’s really no surprise that TJ’s Wood Products has become the premiere provider of handcrafted log homes, log accents and commercial log work in Colorado for malls, retail outlets, or mountain log homes… it’s passion for what we do. Assembly Plant
TJs Wood Products 18,000 square foot timber & log fabricating facility is equipped with an overhead crane and staffed with the finest timber & log craftsman in the industry. Other log home builders can own the best equipment in the world, but without the artisans behind the scenes every step of the way, you may not be pleased with the outcome. With TJ’s, your dreams are first carved out and stacked into a reality. Our custom made tools enable us to complete projects efficiently and maintain our status as the largest producing hand-hewn, custom log home manufacturer in the USA.
With decades of professional expertise, TJ’s Wood Products can custom manufacture anything from large scale commercial trusses and log accents, basic log cabins to custom log homes of any size, log fireplace mantels, log furniture, log decks and railings, log bridges, log pavilions and more! Our Log Mill
Our Log Mill is Part of the Forest
- TJ's has a 10-acre log mill in Pike National Forest where all of our logs are processed.
- TJ's produces logs from 3 inches in diameter up to 36 inches in diameter, from 1 foot in length up to 50 feet.
- Our Colorado Log Milling location is also where all of the larger homes are constructed, from 3,000 s.f. up to 10,0000 s.f. in dimensions.

International Log Builders Association
Founded in 1974, the International Log Builders’ Association is a worldwide organization dedicated to furthering the craft of handcrafted log building, to the advancement of log builders, and to the promotion of the highest standards of their trade.
The association writes and distributes educational materials on log construction to individuals, institutions, and industry. In addition, the association provides educational services related to the craft of log building, develop and disseminate educational material and programs related to the craft, establish operating trust funds for scholarships and educational purposes.
